Message Drove down to Harrisonburg to get my Z aligned and get a state inspection. Alignment made a world of difference, my little offroad excursion a few months back knocked my toe all out of wack on every wheel... But Z wouldn't pass inspection due to a few things (no front corner markers[JSpec marker I have are only turn signals, doh!], no third brake light[I'm too cheap to buy the sockets to put the bulbs in for the brake light, anyone have some used ones?], no license plate lights[DOH!, didn't know that!], and big sticker on my windshield[Uh, duh... hehe]). So, brother and I jumped in the Z around 1:20pm Friday to head to VaBch to try and get an old mechanic friend of mine to inspect it... Got about to Charlottesville and this girl's volvo decided it didn't like me or something and let its corner marker lense loose and threw it at my Z!!! =( Tagged the windshield and shattered the lense (not the windshield). I didn't stop at first because I thought it had just hit the windshield, but then stopped a few miles up the road to take a bathroom break and noticed 5 NASTY scratches up my freshly painted hood! (2 months old) =( Brother and I jumped back in the Z and took off after the volvo (didn't want to get screwed by my insurance if for some reason she was to be held liable). Took me 20 minutes at 100-120mph to catch the girl!! (She was only doing 70, but I guess that's what happens when you stop for 5 minutes!!). Flagged the girl down (probably thought we were psycho's or something) and got most of her info. She was rather nice about the whole thing, but was a little flustered.

Barely made it to VaBch in time. We'd called ahead, and let the guy know we were coming, and he said it he was still there when we arrived he'd inspect it. Well the place normally closes around 5:30pm, we got there about 10 til 6. Guy was still there, but as we walked in the door he was walking out with the inspection book. Look at me and said "I hope there isn't anything wrong with it, cuz I'm just going to slap a f*&$ing inspection sticker on it...". Its nice when your family knows a mechanic for 9 years... =).

Unfortunately when I called my insurance the next morning, they said VA law dictates that my comprehensive covers it... grr... Said it should have no effect on my insurance, but we'll see... Woman said had it been hanging off the vehicle, or had it been something like some wood being carried in the back of a pickup that had fallen off, then she would have been held negligent, but due to how things happened, it was handled as a freak incident or road hazard. =( Whole hood needs to be repainted... Scratches went all the way down to the metal! Went through my NEW paint and my old!! Oh well... Had a good weekend otherwise... sorry I missed the meet, but I did get to drive home in that rain though!!

Didn't mean to rant, just felt like telling my story. =)

Later,
KaZ
